Learn-to-Swim

Each year the Aquatics Branch offers four (4) Learn-to-Swim Sessions. Each session consists of eight (8) classes, Tuesday through Friday, weather permitting. The age range is 4 years and over. Class size may vary depending on availability of instructors. Class registration will be limited to ten (10) participants per class level. Prospective Students may register at any City of Fort Worth Public Pool.

Students can register at any municipal city pool. Registration will be limited to ten (10) participants per class level. Each session consists of 8 classes. Tuesday through Friday mornings, weather permitting.

Description of Levels
Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills - Helps the students feel comfortable in the water.
Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills - Gives the student success with fundamental skills.
Level 3 Stroke Development - Builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice.
Level 4 Stroke Development - Develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills.
Level 5 Stroke Refinement - Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.
Level 6 Swimming adn Skills Proficiency - Refines the strokes so students swim with ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over great distances.

 

 

Junior Lifeguarding

Gives you a jump start into American Red Cross Lifeguarding. If you are between the ages of 11 - 14, then Junior Lifeguarding is for you! Available during sessions 2-4. For class scheduling please click here.

This class covers:

  • Prevention: Learn how to prevent drowning and diving accidents.
  • Professionalism: Learn the role and responsibilities of lifeguard as a professional.
  • Fitness: Develop swimming skills and general physical ability for lifeguarding responsibilities.
  • Response: Gain understanding of the basis of emergency response techniques. Practice lifeguarding skills.
  • Leadership: Learn the basic skills for effectively guiding others. Gain understanding of decision making and communication skills.

    Requirements: Students must be able to tread water for 1 minute, submerge swim for 10 yards and complete a 25 yard front crawl with rotary breathing.
