Mission

The City of Fort Worth's Athletics Section provides a variety of programs and facilities year round for Fort Worth residents of all ages. We are dedicated to offering athletic and aquatic programs geared towards providing participants a release from stress and an opportunity to enhance physical conditioning and the quality of life.

Athletics Section Overview

The City of Fort Worth Athletics Section maintains 178 athletic fields, including 3 new synthetic turf fields at Gateway Park, 9 sport complexes, 2 athletic centers, 7 swimming pools, and 16 tennis courts. All facilities are used for athletic competitions and facility rental fees vary according to sport.

We offer various youth and adult sport programming to both city residents and commuters throughout the calendar year. The youth sports program works in collaboration with the Youth Sports Council of Fort Worth to offer winter and summer basketball, spring baseball, softball, kickball, and girls volleyball, and fall soccer and flag football, and summer track and field. To participate in this program youth must have a valid city membership card, which can be purchased from any city community center. The adult sports program offers residents and commuters various sports to help promote an active adult lifestyle. We offer spring and fall softball, summer and winter basketball, spring and fall flag football, and summer, fall, and winter volleyball leagues for participants of all skill levels and abilities.

The Aquatics program maintains and operates seven (7) city pools. The pools are strategically located throughout the city to ensure that residents will have a swimming pool in their community. The pools offer aquatic programs, lap swimming, and may be rented for various functions by contacting our office. Learn to swim classes are offered for students 4 years and up. Bring your family out to enjoy fun in the sun! General admission is required at all pools.

Throughout the calendar year, the City of Fort Worth Athletics Section offers and hosts a variety of special events. We annually host sport clinics, the American Heart Walk, NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick, After School Olympic Day, and FitFuture Kids Fest. In addition, sport programming opportunities for youth and adult residents with special needs are offered throughout the calendar year. These programs are offered free of charges to all participants.
